Southwest Airlines Plane Averts Midair Collision in Chicago

A Southwest Airlines plane narrowly avoided an aviation tragedy at Chicago's Midway International Airport, United States. The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 25, when the aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 with registration N8517F, was attempting to land at high speed and nearly collided with a private jet crossing the runway.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the incident and fortunately, no injuries were reported. As the Southwest Airlines plane approached the runway, it noticed the presence of the private jet and, in an emergency maneuver, aborted the landing and climbed back, flying over the other plane.

The National Transportation Safety Board of the United States has initiated investigations to clarify what happened. According to authorities, this was a go-around of the Boeing 737-800 from Southwest Airlines due to the incursion of another aircraft on the same runway.

Although the accident was avoided this time, internet users have once again pointed to the frequency of aviation incidents in the United States this year. A video of the escape moment was shared on social media, highlighting the pilot's skill in preventing a tragedy.

This event adds to the list of numerous aviation accidents that have taken place in the country so far this year, raising concerns among the public and questioning the aviation authorities.
